Keeping a Positive Attitude When Depression Sets In

Only you can provide yourself with the positive attitude you need at those most imperative and important times.  So how is this accomplished?  Especially if you're in a depressed state of mind.

  1. Exercise - Exercise releases endorphins in the brain and makes us feel better about ourselves.
  2. Count Your Blessings - Count your blessings for the wonderful things you have in your life that you could be without.  Think of how much better off you are than some other people.
  3. Take time for yourself -Think about nothing, do nothing that requires you to other than exercise, just relax.  Read, watch tv, knit, paint, do puzzles, just relax.
  4. Assess your problem(s)- Think of them as challenges instead of problems, work towards finding solutions one step at a time.  Just try to look at things from a different perspective.
  5. Remember that problems are temporary.-  Nothing in life is permanent, so where you are today, may not be where you are tomorrow, next month or next year.

Depression is a terrible problem. Sometimes it is hard for a person suffering from depression to see it as temporary.
